The investment components LBDCIP includes(i) Rehabilitation and Upgrading of the Balloki Barrage including appurtenant structures of Head Regulators for LBDC and B-S link canal (ii) Rehabilitation and Upgrading of LBDC canal system. The maximum carrying capacity of the canal at present is 8,600 cusecs. The operators are unable to run the channel to its authorized discharge even when adequate supplies are available in river Ravi at Balloki Barrage. The century old system requires Upgrading/rehabilitation of channel prism, earthen banks, bridges, control structures, and head regulators, cross regulators, etc. This study was carried out to critically analyze the environmental management plan (EMP)of LBDCIP to identify the gaps activities and mitigationmeasures by using the site survey, audits, risk assessment, monitoring and checklists methods and suggest mitigation measures to improve environmental mitigation performance.
