This study was aimed at assessing the variation of concentrations of total and species of Cd, Cr, Ni, Pb, Cu and Zn in atmospheric dust particulate and roadside surface soil samples, and air pollutants (CO, H2S, NO2, SO2, FL and NH3) along busy roads due to increase in automobile over the years in Kano metropolis. The study was carried out across four seasons between December 2009 and September 2010. Generally, The results for the pollutants along busy roads indicate pollution due to traffic and other sources, an indication of health risk to the residents along these roads. Also, the presence of another striking feature contributing to the total levels of pollutants in all sites across the seasons was noted. Similarly, increases during the Warm and Wet Season provide strong evidence that rainfall impacts the pollutants concentrations at all sites.
