Tovar, based on the notion that teachers' reasoning can be considered as mediated by epistemic resources when teaching science researches those mediating conditions in his paper "Epistemic Mediators for Teachers' Reasoning in the Science Classroom". This well-conceived study explores how these mediators shape instructional gist-illicitation, judgment leading to students' understanding. Tovar offers a fresh perspective to educators, sellers of curricular subsystems and educational theories wanting an avenue for progress in promoting better scientific reasoning (including critical thinking) within the classroom.
