This project reports on the ergonomic design of a bicycle for children considering anthropometric dimensions. To know the customers current needs, a survey was conducted. After it, anthropometric dimensions of target population were gathered in which sample size was kept 90. To make it safer for children, its handlebar is equipped with spring dashpot system so that it will reduce the impact in case of striking the handlebar with abdomen. Statistical tool namely Principal Component Analysis (PCA) has been used in order to identify the predominant parameters in the design. Injuries and other problems faced by children can be minimized by adjusting the bicycle components. If it happens due to physical causes, there are other remedies which have been suggested in the report. Using Newton s laws of motion, average impact force at strike of handlebar with the abdomen has been calculated and using spring design theory, spring parameters have been calculated. The newly designed bicycle was tested to find whether it was better or not.
