Solid particle erosion is a typical wear mode encountered by engineering and structural components such as exhaust fans, helicopter blades, structures in dusty and mining sites, deserts etc. This book presents a comprehensive account on how polymer composites respond to such erosion and how a judicious selection of the reinforcing elements can be made to obtain the optimum design of composites. Erosion characteristics of Jute-Epoxy composites filled with silicon carbide is taken as a case study. Significant parameters affecting the erosion wear rate are identified. Prediction of wear response of such composites is also discussed.
