The research reported here was undertaken to identify and describe some of the errors made by a group of 76 first year students of Haryana in selected areas of English grammar, i. e., Verb Forms and Patterns, Use of Auxiliaries and Tense Usage. The sources of errors are explained and remedial measures also suggested. Pedagogical notes on each error type have been added. They indicate the rules that can be established to help the learners acquire acceptable forms.
