To learn English as a second language is very difficult for the foreign learners. As far as Indians are concerned, though they are familiar with the language they make errors due to many sociological and linguistic influences. This work focuses on identifying such errors especially of the engineering students and interpreting them to find out the reasons. It further provides suggestions and remedies to reduce the errors and eradicate them through various strategies and methods of teachings. This is the thesis submitted for the fulfillment of doctoral degree from Linguistic Department of Madurai Kamaraj University, India.
