The Trinity is the paradigm of creation, the shape of our salvation, and the mode of our prayer. Accordingly the Trinity is our hermeneutics-our way to read and understand the Word of God, likewise the creation by God. With the conception of the twin brothers Esau and Jacob, the three focal patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are established in a familial triunity, with God being related radically as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Abraham, the father of the faithful, reflects God the Father. Isaac, the child of promise, being symbolically sacrificed by Abraham reflects God the Son proceeding from God the Father. And Jacob becoming Israel reflects the movement of God the Spirit in establishing the Body of Christ. The blessing of Jacob is fulfilled foremost in Joseph-the son of his old age, prophetically the last days. Joseph ben Jacob governed the land of Egypt, representing the world, and ruled expressly under Pharaoh-pointing to the Son, conceived of the Spirit, reigning over the kingdom of God in accord with the will of the Father.
