Autorenporträt
Belle South was born in New York and raised in Los Angeles with two sisters, one older and one younger. At the age of three, she tagged along to her elder sister's dance classes and danced throughout most of her adolescence, in the classical dances of ballet, jazz, tap and acrobatics. In high school Belle studied Modern Dance and began a process of self-actualization. Once in college, after two years of Psychology and Sociology majors, Belle went back to the Arts and took up Modern Ballet, Modern Jazz and Afro-Cuban Ethnic Dance. At the age of twenty-three, Belle sold everything she owned and moved to Kauai to live off the land. When she returned to the mainland, she met her first husband and took up Belly Dancing. Her Belly Dance teacher was mesmerizing; her femininity and grace, the dark eye make-up, the sensuous movement, the costuming and the community belly dancing builds amongst women. Belle was hooked! Belle went on to become a certified Belly Dance instructor after studying with over seventy-five teachers, exploring a variety of styles from many countries, and she then created her own belly dance theory in her fifties. After hearing too many women say they were too old or too fat to belly dance, she pointed out that she herself was over fifty and overweight and that the ecstasy of belly dance has nothing to do with age or size. If you would like to know more about sensuality, or belly dancing, Belle recommends Janis David at JanisDavid.com. There you can feel your sensuality soar in new ways with Janis' Ten Tantric Tips!
