Autorenporträt
Roland Haertl is a serial entrepreneur. During his early education years, he strove to develop himself into a polymath. He studied and acquired skills, knowledge, and expertise in several languages, mathematics, world history, history of art, reading of literature and philosophy, and engineering. At age 19 he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to in the US before obtaining a graduate degree in structural and civil engineering in Germany. He holds several patents. His design of the Fremont bridge in Portland Oregon was selected from several for construction in 1966.Before this he was born a German ethnic in Czechoslovakia and lived there during World War II. The occupation by the Russian army and concurrent ethnic cleansing by the Czech nation state necessitated his family's flight to the West.He lives with his wife, Leslie Kolisch, in the Pacific Northwest.
