Autorenporträt
Marie Thérèse Kiriaky is a Syrian author, journalist and feminist activist. She worked at the United Nations for almost three decades. Ms Kiriaky completed her studies in Syria, including a Bachelor¿s in French Literature from the Damascus University. Human rights, in particular women¿s rights are close to her heart as she has written many articles on these topics. Ms Kiriaky has published two books, this being the English version of Escaping Forward (Stories) from 2015. Ms Kiriaky is the Founder and President of the Arab Austrian Women¿s Association, as well as the Co-Founder of the Syrian Women¿s Political Movement. In 2015 she won the United Nations Secretary General Award for Voluntarism for her Project Balsam. The United Nations Women¿s Guild in Vienna and New York chose to award their annual sponsorship among many other candidates to Project Balsam in 2016 and 2017 as well.
