The Scent of the Bride offers a profound exploration into the ancient vocation of consecrated virginity, renewed in the modern era by the Second Vatican Council. This unique calling--being a bride of Christ while living in the world--has seen a resurgence as women seek a life devoted entirely to God outside traditional religious orders. Addressing the pressing need for resources specific to this vocation, this book blends theological insights with practical applications, covering essential themes like celibacy, virginity, Mariology, ecclesiology, and spousal love. It also includes reflection questions and Scripture passages that invite readers to deepen their spiritual journey. Through the guidance offered here, The Scent of the Bride becomes an invaluable resource for bishops, formators, and women discerning or living this vocation, providing the Church a comprehensive tool to understand and support consecrated virginity in the contemporary world.

Autorenporträt
Erin Kinsella is a Consecrated Virgin of the Archdiocese of Ottawa and a co-host of In the Thicket, a podcast on suffering and hope. Although she grew up Catholic, Erin drifted from the Faith in college. While pursuing graduate studies in virology, Erin encountered the Lord's mercy during a period of intense suffering and experienced a powerful reversion to the Faith. She was blessed to work in youth, young adult, and campus ministry for over fifteen years before a diagnosis of fibromyalgia left her unable to work regularly. Erin was consecrated to a life of virginity lived in the world in 2019 on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. She holds a master's degree in theological studies from St. Augustine's Seminary conjointly with the University of Toronto and completed her thesis on the theology of the suffering body. Erin is a frequent speaker and writer on topics around suffering, Theology of the Body, and Consecrated Virginity.
