The present collection of essays covers three different topics in the Sami culture. My interest has stayed with this line of research since my early childhood when I learned that my family had Sami roots. The Indigenous Sami studies have been developed in line with the research conducted at the University of Tromsoe (Norway), at the Master of Indigenous Studies, and the work of the Centre of British Cultural Studies, at the University of Bucharest (Romania) for a reality check.

Autorenporträt
The author, Elena-Mirona Ciocirlie, was born in Romania on February 26th, 1976. Both parents, mother and father had Sami and Norwegian roots. We visited Norway with the grandparents in the 1980s and following these visits my mother's parents gave up their Sami right to fishing and reindeer herding.
