This reorganization makes the book more interesting for the reader because it provides a continuous flow of related parts which were otherwise presented as different chapters in the previous edition. The book lays the foundation of the entire text by introducing the reader to Philosophy. Under this precursory chapter, the author lays out rich content on the meaning of philosophy, how the discipline is studied, its schools, among other essential concepts. The second chapter is an introductory chapter on the discipline of Philosophy of Education. Areas of focus here include the nature, scope and functions of Philosophy of Education, structure and modes of philosophical inquiry in education, and philosophy of teaching and its implications on teaching styles. The third chapter comprises of three parts that were different chapters in the earlier edition.

Edwin A. Ombasa holds a Bachelor of Education Degree (Hons.) from Kenyatta University, Kenya. He also holds a Master of Education Degree from the same institution. His research interests are higher education, education of special and marginalized groups, children rights, and quality assurance in education.
