Wine is one of the most widely consumed beverages; hence, there is a need for an analytical overview of composition and quality of these fast-consuming wines with respect to the presence of toxic metals. It is important to acknowledge that consumption of wines contribute to the daily dietary intake of essential metals such as copper, zinc, iron, lead, aluminium, potassium, sodium and calcium; amongst many other metals. It might be very refreshing taking these wines, more so, if they are not found to be injurious to one's health. Nevertheless, there is a serious cause for alarm if toxic metals are deposited into one's body due to intake of these so called "refreshing" wines, causing debilitating diseases; especially those made in the developing countries. Considering samples of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic wines of some countries with respect to those produced in Nigeria, the project was able to establish the status of metals in the wine samples. This book establishes a comparative status of the Nigerian produced wines and the foreign produced wines; which has also found Nigerian produced wines to be fit for consumption according to the specifications of the regulatory bodies.
