Frew Amsalu ist Assistenzprofessor an der Universität Jimma, Abteilung für Bildungsplanung und -management. Derzeit promoviert er an der Fakultät im Bereich Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Frew Amsalu hat ein starkes Interesse an der Forschung und hat bereits mehrere Artikel in angesehenen nationalen und internationalen Fachzeitschriften veröffentlicht.
