Two, to encourage critical reflection, which is of paramount importance in moral discernment and decision-making, twelve ethical schools of thought, founded and formulated by great ethical thinkers throughout the ages, are presented and discussed, namely: hedonism, stoicism, Epicureanism, utilitarianism, situation ethics, mightism or power ethics, deontologisml or duty ethics, natural law ethics, humanistic ethics, pragmatism, Rawls's theory of justice, and ethical relativism. Three, significantly highlighted is the application of the respective ethical theories relevant to a particular moral issue.

DR. FLORENTINO TEJERO TIMBREZA is a University Fellow at the De La Salle University-Manila, where he retired as Full Professor 10--the highest academic rank in the University. He authored the first full-length textbook of bioethics in the Philippines: Bioethics and Moral Decisions (1993), Health Care Ethics (2007),Reproductive Health Ethics (2015).
