Turmeric is a rhizomatous plant, herbaceous, and perennial belongs to the familyfamily, this species is widely used for its culinary properties in the form of powder, alone or combined with other spices, by 85% of the patients who consume it, as well as for its anticancer therapeutic properties. The ethnobotanical study that was carried out shows that 62% of the patients interviewedthe anticancer properties of turmeric, a property that is mainly related to the antioxidant poweressentially to the antioxidant power characteristic of this species. In 87% of the respondents using turmeric, this use was for curative purposes, during or after medical treatment, than for the prevention of the appearance of cancer. Our study shows that the use of turmeric, either alone or in combination, and in any form (dry powder or infusion) is very effective for 87% of the patients interviewed, and has no adverse effects for 96% of them.
