East Godavari dt is situated within the geographical coordinates of 16°-30' and 18°-20' N latitude and 81°-30' and 82°-36' E longitude and the study was taken up covering an area of 4040.04 km2 with the objectives of recording information from tribal communities viz., Konda Reddi, Konda Dora, Koya Dora etc. 600 ethnobotanical plant species included 420 genera and 125 families were recorded which are exploited in curing different ailments and other purposes. The dominant families are Leguminosae with 95 species followed by Euphorbiaceae & Poaceae (28 each), Malvaceae (25). 147 different ailments are cured with 1790 practices. 74 species are used for treatment of veterinary diseases. Economic valuation of all the 600 ethnobotanical species was carried out to calculate the Total Importance Value (TIV). The indigenous knowledge of the tribal communities must be properly documented and preserved for future generations. This book is useful to the researchers in the fields of Ethnobotany, Ethnomedicine, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy etc.

Dr. J. Suneetha is Reader & HoD of Botany, Govt. College,Rajahmundry. She did her M.Phil.in Cytogenetics and Ph.D.in Ethnobotany from Andhra University and has 12 publications. Prof. T.V.V. Seetharami Reddi guided 34 M.Phil. and 11 Doctoral students in the fields of Cytogenetics and Ethnobtoany with 110 publications and authored 8 books.
