In the scientific study of folk pedagogy, an important place is given to the historical approach to it. Ethnopedagogy can objectively illuminate pedagogical phenomena only reflecting a certain level of pedagogical knowledge, the historical stage in the spiritual progress of the people, on which emerged and developed pedagogical science. For many centuries, the people formed the values that gave rise to most of the achievements of modern life. Knowledge of historical and cultural acquisitions of ancestors is necessary not only to comprehend, but also to use the best traditions in the pedagogical practice of today. Ignoring the principle of historicism leads to the separation of the future from the past, to the violation of the historical chain, to the destruction of the natural unity of generations. Ethnopedagogy is also a sphere of historical and pedagogical science, which studies traditional and everyday culture - customs, symbols, traditions, folklore, crafts in different historical periods of development of the state and nation.
