The purpose of this research is to show that the transformational role of the EU is of great importance in the process of introducing change to the countries in transition. Due to its history and location, Ukraine has been faced with the dilemma between European choice' and Eurasian challenge.' The book explores the EU's role in solving this dilemma and argues that the commitment of the EU to Ukraine is essential in the process of country's Europeanization. Moreover, it is necessary for the continuity of the promoting democratic change in the region. Ukraine needs the EU and vice versa: its geopolitical position between Russia and Europe plays an important role in European security and stability. The book will help the reader to grasp the changes in Ukraine and country's relations with the EU.

Tamila Karpyk is an expert in the EU and NATO affairs, and Ukraine's foreign policy. She completed graduate degrees in Economic, Management & Global&Affairs at the Dalhousie University,Canada; Old Dominion University, USA; and Ternopil National Economic University, Ukraine and held teaching and consulting positions in Europe and North America.
