Compressed natural gas comes from natural gas and is compressed to less than 0.01 of its original volume at standard atmospheric pressure. CNG is stored at pressures of up to 3600 psi. CNG serves as vehicular fuel. In Nigeria, over-reliance on petroleum products for automobiles has been a huge disadvantage over the years because automobiles emit substantial amounts of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide to the environment as a result of incomplete combustion. Moreover, the persistent gas flaring in Nigeria's oil and gas sector has very dangerous environmental impact, especially on the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. To tackle these problems, it is imperative that alternative fuels are recommended for use in powering automobiles in Nigeria. In this book, performance analyses of compressed natural gas as public transport fuel in Nigeria are conducted which include: technical analyses, flow assurance analyses, economic analyses, environmental impact assessment and the development of a software for simpler analyses of the project. From the studies, it's seen that for public transportation in Nigeria, CNG would be a better and more environmental-friendly fuel than the conventional fuels.
