This study provides a comprehensive understanding of water quality and textural characteristics of core sediments from the Vamanapuram River, Kerala. The physicochemical parameters of the river were within the acceptable limit of BIS for drinking water except for the sample which was taken from the Anchuthengu coast. Bacteriological analysis of the river indicated microbial contamination in all water samples. In the current study, a significant finding was the gradual reduction in grain size along the downstream direction. This finding is mostly attributable to the river's differential…mehr

This finding is mostly attributable to the river's differential transport mechanism, which is controlled by variations in mean discharge, water speed, and seasonal variance.
