This book started out as an undergraduate project work. It was born out of the need to produce a comprehensive work targeting at making biodiesel a come to stay product to curb the menace of environmental degradation arising from the fossil-fuel-led economy. This book evaluate the biodiesel potential of palm kernel oil from the correlation between its chemical structure and its corresponding intrinsic parameters for quality Biodiesel production with optimum cetane number, viscosity, heat of combustion, oxidative stability, cold flow properties, density and it extend to cover how Biodiesel can be prepared from palm kernel oil. The evaluative method use in this book for palm kernel oil is applicable to other oils for effective screening of oils and production of biodiesel. The method make use of palm kernel oil and Gas-chromatographic mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analytical techniques which reveal the fatty acid profile of the oil with their respective structure and percentage weight. This book have answered the question of how to know the suitable oil for a quality biodiesel.
