The ultimate objective of the present study was to recommend possible and suitable rice varieties for the haor areas along with proper doses of possible fertilizer applications in respect to soil fertility management and rice productivity. Six sets of experiments (one survey and five field experiments) were conductedfrom November 2015 to 2018. A brief survey was done to know the cropping patterns and fertilizer use in three time regimes. According to survey results 34, 33 and 29 cropping patterns existed before 40 and 20 years with at present, respectively. The highest percentages of 90.0 and 68.3 respondents were reported the Jagli boro-Fallow-Fallow cropping patterns before 40 and 20 years, respectively. At present BRRI dhan28-Fallow-Fallow cropping pattern was found dominated. Before 40 years, farmers' did not apply chemical fertilizers butat present Urea, TSP and MoP @ 183, 45 and 43 kg ha-1 was practiced, respectively. In case of first field experiment, sixty soil samples were collected from five locations of each of the 12 selected haors of 12 upazilas under Sunamganj, Sylhet, Moulavibazar and Habiganj districts with GPS reading for fertility evaluation.
