The four main steps involved in mushroom cultivation viz. composting, conditioning, spawning and casing. Compost colonized with mushroom mycelium is covered with a 3-5 cm thick casing layer, which is nutritionally deficient medium to initiate the development of sporophores. The research experiment was carried out to investigate different cereals grain for good quality spawn and casing materials for enhancing better growth behaviour and yield potential of button mushrooms.
