Pesticides are substances used to combat pests. Their use has been indiscriminate and their harmful effects on health have been evident on the central nervous system. Atrazine (ATR) is a pesticide that produces alterations in motor activity, learning, memory, motivational and reproductive processes in both humans and animals. Experimental analysis of male sexual behavior has explored the role of several neurotransmitters including dopamine, serotonin and noradrenaline. In most of the studies rodents are used, in the rat three motor behaviors are analyzed; mounting behavior, intromission behavior and ejaculation behavior. In this study we evaluated the effect of acute and chronic administration of RTA on male sexual behavior in rats trying to discern the effects on the physiological components, and the possible mechanisms affected in male sexual behavior.
