In 2004, Most of the Sri Lankan coats were devastated by destructive Tsunami. At that time there were no any early warning system established in the coastal areas. Disaster Management Center established in 2005. After that, early warning system gradually established in vulnerable areas which has a well co-ordinated activity since 2005. This is the 10th year after the Tsunami but there is no studies were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the early warning system so far. This book greatly support to understand about the effectiveness with a ground survey and the overlaying of the various features which are directly combine with the Tsunami vulnerability. Secondary data was analyzed with the available data in affected divisional secretariat areas in Sri Lanka. Maps were developed with 8 variables & final suitability map extracted as the main output of these 8 variables. As per the primary data analysis, open-ended responses were analyzed. 14 coastal districts were surveyed.This book will strongly contribute its valuable analysis to fulfill the current gaps of the early warning system and enhance the reception of the early warnings in all the coastal areas in Sri Lanka.
