This study addressed the issue of the logistics system for ARV management in Rubavu District. The problem was defined as a gap between the performance of the logistics system as desired by the National Pharmaceutical Policy and that achieved by the logistics system in Rubavu District. Its objectives were to describe the functioning of the logistics system as it currently operates at the District level and to assess the current performance of the system. It is a descriptive cross-sectional study with an evaluative purpose that focused on fifteen health facilities, including thirteen (13) health centers, one hospital and one district pharmacy. It consisted of a survey of those responsible for ARV management. The survey was complemented by a documentary analysis of management tools and observation of ARV storage conditions. The assessment revealed that the logistics system in Rubavu District is of low performance; thus, the selection, acquisition-transportation, use, maintenance of management tools and data management are fair according to the criteria set.
