Impact evaluation study is becoming a widely accepted veritable tool to determine the worth of a completed project in terms of fulfilment of objectives, efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability. This book, Evaluation of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Rice Project Phase One in Southeast Nigeria, provides empirical data as evidence on the extent of performance, adoption level of improved rice technologies, profitability of rice production enterprise, impact on socio-economic life of rice farmers and challenges in implementing the project. It portrays rice as the major staple food in many countries of the world, hence various efforts being made by governmental and non-governmental organizations through the establishment of projects, policies and programmes to empower farmers to boost production. To gain more understanding, a comprehensive review was done on government intervention on rice programmes, rice production, processing and marketing in Nigeria, programme performance indicators, farmers' participation in development projects, and evaluation models/framework for agricultural extension programmes and projects.
