One hundred irrigation water samples along with their corresponding one hundred surface soil samples were collected from different villages of Sri Madhopur panchayat samiti . The irrigation water samples were analyzed for various chemical properties and soil samples were analyzed for physical and physio-chemical properties. The irrigation waters were classified into four groups, on the basis of salinity (EC), sodicity (SAR) and alkalinity (RSC).Besides this, the quality of irrigation water also categorized on the basis of the EC, SAR and RSC into seven classes viz: good, marginally saline, saline, high SAR saline, marginally alkali, alkali and highly alkali waters and it was found that majority of irrigation water of the study area are not suitable for irrigation purposes.Proper land leveling, bunding and deep ploughing of the field should be done to ensure uniform leaching of salts and fertilizers should be applies @1.25 times of the recommended dose along with 10t FYM ha-1.
