Investment on creation of irrigation facilities has resulted in self sufficiency in food grain production at the other handover or unscientific ways of irrigation will lead to development of saline lands, swamps and marshy lands leading to environmental degradation. Hence while developing irrigation facilities, the development departments also make provisions for safe disposal as well as safe transport of water to increase the system efficiency. In this report an effort is made to evaluate the field irrigation channels and field drains created by Bhadra Command Area Development Authority, Karnataka, India to increase the systems efficiency. This book will serve as a reference material for the policy makers as well as students and other scientific community involved in development activities especially in the field of irrigation.
