Due to their particular features, like small size, remote control capabilities, multiple detection, and low cost, optical fiber sensors are now one of the more enabling sensing technologies. Optical fiber sensors were used for biological and chemical sensing of their importance biocompatibility ,and high sensitivity. In this thesis, a type of optical fiber is introduced to the biochemical sensor through micro-nano engineering of its metallic coatings. As well as demonstrate its applications in biological sensing. A high-performance creatinine sensor was developed through the manufacture of SPR-based optical fiber sensors with various sensitivity enhancing materials. The sensors were made from optical fiber by removing the layers of jacket and part of cladding. After using hydrofluoric acid at different times (5, 10, 20, 25) min to reduce the diameter of the multi-mode fiber. The surface of fiber was coated using gold metal after the tapering process. Experimental results reveal that the SPR base optical fiber sensor with a layer of Au that has high sensitivity and with low resonance.
