This collection is mostly story poems. Several of the poems have appeared before in previous collections by the author. Several have had their initial outings in various literary journals, but most will be new to you.Story Poems. Harry Youtt is a long-time Plain-speech Resonance poet. He's the author of several collections of poetry, including most recently: "Finbarr Visits the Pacific," "Elderverses," and "Outbound for Elsewhere." In the poetry he writes, his goal is to communicate in resonant language that flows naturally. He believes the highest purpose of poetry is the clarity of communication that can enable profound absorption by as many as possible. He also believes most poetry should be looked at, again and again, the way you go back to a good photograph, to make sure you've seen and sensed everything that was there when the picture got taken. With his wife, Judith Simon Prager, Harry has been teaching workshops in fiction and narrative non-fiction writing in the UCLA (Ext.) Writers' Program since 1990. He also occasionally conducts poetry workshops in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. His poetry is published in numerous anthologies and journals, where it has garnered a couple of national awards and several Pushcart Prize nominations. He also writes and speaks about poetry, consciousness and American culture in literary publications and at international conferences.
