Six individuals who, under "normal" circumstances would hardly have anything to do with each other, sign up for a course. A course which they all, under "normal" circumstances, would never have considered doing. In part 1 we observe how the group develops during the six week cookery course. They feel for each other, they help each other and they realise that they are in the process of creating something special. They are not only learning how to cook, they are learning a lesson for life. Part 2 reveals the unlikely group as steadfast and their unusual friendship thrives. Each group member has issues which they, for differing reasons, feel they cannot divulge to others outside this treasured group. For every one of them, the support received gives not only strength, but also a hitherto unimaginable stability and and ultimate feeling of invulnerability. Part 3 leads to a promise made to a dying patient at a hospice. The group initiate a campaign to feed hungry school children in the town. Due to the success of this, they have to face the inevitable - that it may have been too good to be true, too good to last. What does their future look like? The landlord of the pub where the friends meet is engrossed in his own private worries and personal struggles, but feels envious of the strength the group members give each other. He comes to realise that he has his own inner circle on whom he can rely, he does not need the six, or the likes thereof. However, maybe society does - or the likes therefof.
