When she was little, Leila's mother told her that smiling was the best way to beat anger. Leila concluded she would look crazy if she forced herself to smile when she was angry, so she ignored her mother's advice. Now that she's much older and a tad wiser, she has learned that not only does smiling bring with it feelings of joy, but it almost always makes other people smile back. Leila was born in Lebanon, lives in Singapore, and spends her time writing stories for kids because it makes her happy. Barbara was born in Munich and raised in Sydney by super optimistic, adventurous parents who encouraged her to find the joy in life and a silver lining in a bad situation. She now happily calls Singapore home and finds joy in laughing kids, purring cats, sweet treats and art. When not gleefully illustrating picture books, you'll probably find her reading and collecting them.
