El autor Stephen W. Hiemstra vive en Centreville, Virginia, con Maryam, su esposa durante más de cuarenta años. Tienen tres hijos adultos. Tienen dos hijas y un hijo.Stephen trabajó como economista durante veintisiete años en más de cinco agencias federales, donde publicó numerosos estudios gubernamentales, artículos de revistas y reseñas de libros.
