Energy Security has always been a concern for all the countries in the world, as with modernization, the use of energy has been increasing rapidly and people's life and national economy becoming dependant on the usage of energy. So, to maintain a secured future, different initiatives are being taken in the energy sector all over the world. South Asian region is vital part of this world with its huge population base and rapid growing economy marked by increasing GDP. To facilitate the objective of this region to progress towards better economy, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was formed in 1985. But, due to some lack of trust between the member states and political dilemma, this association has never flourished to its full potential. However, through building mutual trust and understanding the greater perspective of this region, SAARC Member States (SMSs) has a big scope to create a strong regional cooperation which includes bilateral and multilateral energy trade between the states and a generalized energy policy which can provide a guiding principle for energy security in the future.
