The study finds that the image of foreign countries in literary translation is the holistic views on foreign countries formed by the translator as the central translation subject in the production of literary translation based on the autopoiesis of the target language system in a certain social and historical context. It is a mixture of re-imagination and the culture and values shaped by the source text, and a reproduction or rewriting of the culture and values of the national image constructed by the source text. It has the characteristics of cross-culture and transformation. The construction of exotic images in literary translation involves the whole process of translation production, from the translation purposes to the selection of translation materials and the employment of translation strategies.
