South African learners' face challenges with the practical mathematics language. Mathematics as a discipline has got own its languages (terminologies, theories, concepts and symbols). It very significant for learners to clearly understand the language of mathematics hence helping them to improve their performance.

Mutesi Maureen attained her Master¿s degree in Curriculum studies and Educational Technology 2015.Currently she is pursuing her PhD and she has worked with different schools both in rural and urban teaching mathematics. Her researching interest extends from understanding the learners¿ experiences and investigate learners performance in mathematics.
