The study of edge plasma physics in tokamaks has developed rapidly in recent years and is now considered as one of the major research areas of magnetic fusion. Edge probe techniques are a necessary experimental contribution to such studies, providing information about the plasma flux to the walls of the reactor. The experiments that were carried out on the Tore Supra tokamak to investigate the scrape-off layer conditions in presence of multiple discrete limiters are presented. The baseline of the scenario is to limit the discharge on discrete limiters on the low field side of the tokamak chamber, increasing the minor radius while the safety factor is kept at a constant value 4.8. Analytical tools for 3D magnetic connection analysis and magnetic field mapping together with a new method for LCFS evaluation are also presented.
