Any plant that harbors curative elements or properties may be termed as medicinal plant. In India, there is much enriched biodiversity due to wide range of climate conditions. According to botanical survey of India, more than 470,000 plant species exists in India, out of which more than 35% are endemic to the country. India has deep rooted traditional system of medicine comprising of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani which are in existence since several centuries. Dr. Anil Kumar is Full Professor of Biotechnology at the Devi Ahilya University, Indore, India, since 1991. He is also holding the chair of the School of Biotechnology since then. He is a founder member of the School. He has published more than 115 full length research papers in various international and national journals of high repute.
