Almost all students demonstrate strong motivational patterns, however, their achievements don't match their motivational patterns. Analysis of socio-contextual factors show that there are multiple factors involved in the process of long-term motivation and teachers haven to keep in mind different social, cultural, psychological and even genetic factors while selecting teaching strategies for ESL learners in Pakistan and elsewhere in the world.

Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Majmaah University KSA. His research interests include ELT, SLA, L2 motivation, Self-Concept, Self-regulation and learner autonomy. He has published in different international journals and presented in interntional conferences at Hong Kong, China and Pakistan.
