This book aimed to examine how official curriculum documents and resource material from a charitable organization constructs civic engagement for secondary school students. The project questioned how such social actions as raising awareness and fundraising in schools have become the main understanding of civic duty for students. Due to a changing participatory culture, a re-examination of the civics education was required to consider all the possible influences that engage student social action participation in eliminating social injustices. This project aimed to accomplish a strong background for what is considered social action and to contribute some dialogue around how different players in the field of civics education contribute to different understandings of citizenship to formulate the ideas of civic responsibility.
