This book provides an insight into the practical use of a readily available website, Voice of America Special English, for the purpose of a reading program with young adults in a tertiary-level classroom. The findings of this study suggest that selection of appropriate reading texts (easy nonfiction) is important in developing young adults' skills in reading. Special English offers the learners easy nonfiction texts along with multimodal features (still images, audio, and even video with some texts). These features, according to the findings and information from previous investigations, facilitate learners' reading comprehension. The findings from the focus group discussion with the participants showed positive feedback towards the website used in the reading program.

Syerina Syahrin is presently pursuing her PhD studies at Victoria University of Wellington. She received Victoria Award of Excellence in 2012, holds a Master's Degree in Education with Distinction from University of Malaya and a Bachelor's Degree in Human Sciences with Honors from the International Islamic University of Malaysia.
