The study is on the investigation of the effect of extra lesson on academic performance of students in secondary schools. The duration and type of extra lesson is considered to see if it has a significant effect on students' academic performance. The study covers some selected schools in each of the three senatorial districts (zones) of Kwara State. The data collected was through the use of questionnaire and assessment through test in three core subjects. Thereafter, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Logistic Regression Analysis were used to analyse the data based on some hypotheses. The extra lesson contributed significantly to students' academic performance but the contribution of interaction between type of extra lesson and duration of extra did not have significant contribution. The adjusted odd ratios of duration of extra lesson and type of extra lesson have second and fifth highest contribution to the students' academic performance when comparing with other factors. This research will be useful for all stake holders in formulating educational policies as regard the duration of students in school and period use for learning/studying in a day.
