One of the main Egyptian monazite ore project targets is to find a new economical and local liquid and solid materials for uranium and thorium separation, extraction and/ or purification.For this reason, we thought of using chelation with heterocyclic ring systems and ion exchange resins, therefore, we decided to synthesize some novel heterocyclic system containing chelating groups like NH2, SH, OH or C=O in addition to the synthesis of glycine modified cross-linked chitosan resin from laboratory available, cheap and easily obtainable starting materials.

Prof. Sobhi Gomha was graduated from Cairo University, Egypt in 1995 then he appointed as a full Professor of Organic chemistry. He has published 166 scientific papers and reviews in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry, the chemistry of hydrazonoyl halides, the chemistry of enaminones, green chemistry and bioactive heterocyclic chemistry.
