"Since I introduced Pierre Coran (pseud. Eugene Delaisse) to my anglophone readers with the collection Fables in a Modern Key (2014), my translation of his Fables a l'air du temps, this whimsical octogenarian celebrated throughout his native Belgium as a preeminent "children's poet"-- though only, in truth, for the most precocious of children!-- has imperceptibly grown a year older and added to his already enviable list of literary honors. I admiringly offer here these Fables of Town and Country-- my version of his most recent collection, Fables des villes et des champs--though quite confident that, by time the manuscript goes to press, it will have been succeeded by several others, and probably by another round of literary honors as well." Norman R. Shapiro Bilingual (French & English) edition illustrated through out in full color.

Autorenporträt
Pierre Coran is one of Belgium's most renowned and award winning poets. His fables and children's stories are published around the world, but this in only his second title to be translated into English as a full length book. Norman R. Shapiro (Translator) is one of America's most award winning translators from the French. Many of his translations of plays, literature, and poetry are considered to be the definitive translations. He is renowned for his nuanced touch and ability to capture in English the word play often found in French poetry and literature. Besides many recent national translation awards in the last few years, he was recently recognized and decorated by the French government. Olga Pastuchiv (Illustrator) is a children's book author, painter, and commercial illustrator. Her work is exhibited regularly in galleries here and abroad. This is her second collaboration with Norman Shapiro on a Pierre Coran book, the first being Fables in a Modern Key. (Black Widow Press, 2014).
