Based on the design process of an interactive exhibition for collecting interpretations of facial expressions and gestures from both deaf and hearing groups and narrative expressions of those interpretations, this paper is proposing a study on facial and gestural expressions within deaf culture as a visual index of their language system as well as indicators of cultural differences from hearing world. The book contains the complete design document of the documentary filmmaking and exhibition designing from the initial research state to the final review of the project. It discusses the previous academic achievements about the deaf culture study, and it indicates the future of the development of the subject matter. More importantly, it records the story of working with deaf people and related organizations, which offers a sensible perspective of view of the social environment of the deaf group. The proposed study may offer new, important components in academic field such as Sociology, Anthropology, Kinesics, Sign Language Study, Psychology and so on. It could also significantly improve the lives and livelihoods of the deaf population.
