Since 1990, the Public Service Commission has embraced the Public Reform initiatives in the Namibian public institutions in which the probation process was one of the reform strategies, but eventually it turned out a mere formality. The increase in poor service delivery in government become a news of the day, which was generally related to the poor Performance Management. Probation is seen as the initial stage that affords the employer an opportunity to evaluate an individual's conduct and performance on the job, toward the permanent appointment in the government. Studies were carried out in other countries on the probation process, this is evidence on lack of research on the Probation process, its factors and challenges in Namibia. This book will evaluate the existing probation process in Oshana Regional Council, identify the factors and challenges the probation process and do recommend to Public Service Commission thereof. A mixed method research design (QUAL+QUAN research) wasadopted. The study is vital to enlighten individuals on the role of probation in the recruitment process in the government while enhancing and strengthening its application.
